Exporting a volume copies its data to an Object Storage bucket so you can move it across regions. The volume must be detached from its node before you export it. Export is available only in Delhi, and the bucket can be in Delhi or Chennai. Only unencrypted volumes can be exported.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- A volume in the Available (detached) state, in Delhi, and not encrypted. See Detach a volume.
- An Object Storage bucket, and its Access Key and Secret Key. See Create a bucket and Generate an access key.
Export the volume
Section titled “Export the volume”- Open Storage > Volumes.
- Select the volume, open its Actions menu, and choose Export To Object Storage.
- Choose the Region where the bucket is, and the Bucket Name.
- Enter the bucket’s Access Key and Secret Key.
- Click Confirm.
The export starts and runs for a few minutes, depending on the volume’s size. Leave the volume detached until the export finishes.
The volume’s data is now in the bucket, and Import a volume brings it back wherever you need it. For an export that fails, see Troubleshooting Volumes.
