Set up AutoPay

View as Markdown

Keep your account topped up automatically. Automatic Top-up buys infra credits with a saved payment method when your balance runs low. Notifications tell you when credits are low or usage is high.

Only the account owner can open Autopay.

  1. In TIR, open the account menu at the top right and select Billing & Usage.
  2. In the settings menu on the left, select Autopay.

A prepaid account has Automatic Top-up and Low balance Notifications, and a postpaid account has Monthly usage notifications. Both have their saved payment methods at the top.

Automatic top-up charges a saved payment method, so add one first.

Select Add payment method and choose how you want to pay:

Account Choices
INR Bank e-mandate, Card (Razorpay), Card (Stripe), or UPI
USD Card (Stripe)

Follow the payment gateway’s steps to save the method. Each saved method has a Priority, Primary or Secondary.

A method still being set up is Mandate pending until it is confirmed, and one that can no longer be used is Mandate inactive. After you save a card with Stripe, AutoPay becomes available once its setup finishes.

On a prepaid account:

  1. Turn on Automatic Top-up.
  2. In Top up when balance is at or below, enter the balance that starts a top-up. The value is at least 500 on an INR account and at least 5 on a USD account, and at most 1,000,000.
  3. In Infra credits to add, enter how many infra credits each top-up buys. The value is at least 2,000 on an INR account and at least 10 on a USD account, and at most 82,000.
  4. Select Save top-up settings.

Saving can charge your saved payment method at once if a top-up is due. Settings Saved confirms the two amounts. When your balance is at or below the limit you set, AutoPay charges your payment method for the credits you set. GST is added for INR payments.

On an INR account, you can tick Enable Smart Top-up instead of setting the amounts. Smart Top-up predicts the charge from recent usage and upcoming renewals. It runs when your balance is below 2,000 infra credits, and the minimum charge is 2,000.

To stop top-ups, turn off Automatic Top-up. In Disable automatic top-up?, tick the box that says you will add credits manually, then select Disable top-up. Your saved payment methods stay in the list.

On a prepaid account:

  1. Turn on Low balance Notifications.
  2. In Notify me when balance falls below, enter the balance at which TIR emails you. The value is at least 1,000 on an INR account and at least 10 on a USD account, and at most 1,000,000.
  3. (Optional) Tick Also notify me by SMS to get a text message too.
  4. Select Save notification settings. TIR shows Configuration Saved Successfully.

To stop these notifications, turn off Low balance Notifications, tick the box in Disable low balance notifications?, and select Disable notifications.

On a postpaid account:

  1. Turn on Monthly usage notifications.
  2. In Monthly usage threshold, enter the monthly usage, from 0 to 82,000, at which you want a notification. The notification counts the usage of the main account, including GST, and leaves out child accounts.
  3. Under Notify me by, choose Email or SMS. Email goes to the admin and billing contacts. SMS is available for Indian numbers (+91) only.
  4. Select Save notification settings.

A saved primary payment method makes a postpaid account eligible for collection of the full outstanding balance. There is no separate AutoPay switch.

In the list of payment methods, open the Actions menu in the method’s row and select Delete payment method. In Delete payment method?, tick the box that confirms the removal, then select Delete payment method. Removing a method may interrupt automatic payments, and you can add it again later.
