Block Storage

Block Storage, previously known as Datasets (Disk), gives you disks of a fixed size that you allocate. They mount read-write once — on one Instance (container) or Virtual Machine at a time — which makes them the right choice for scratch space, high-speed caching, and any step that has to write to its mount directory.

In the TIR portal it lives under Storage > Block Storage.

One Workload at a Time

Block Storage is read-write once: each disk mounts read-write on only one resource at a time. If it is already mounted elsewhere, the portal says so when you try to attach it — unmount it there first.
