A Marketplace node is an ordinary node launched from a ready-made product image, an operating system plus a prepared software stack, instead of a plain OS. The rest of the flow, plan, billing, network, security, and launch, works the same as any other node; what differs is how you pick and launch the product. See Create a node for the shared steps.
Pick a product
Section titled “Pick a product”Open Compute > Nodes, click Add New Node, and choose the Marketplace tab. Use the search box to filter the list, or the Explore all Marketplace Solutions link to browse the full catalog in a new tab. Only products enabled for your account and region show up here. Select a product to move on to the plan screen.
Review what you are launching
Section titled “Review what you are launching”Before you pick a plan, read the product’s own details:
- Description and Features: what the product is and what it includes.
- Additional Documentation and Release Notes: vendor documentation, including the ports the application needs. You will need these when you set up the security group.
- Legal: the product’s end-user license agreement.
The product’s OS and version are fixed by your choice here.
Choose a plan and configure the rest
Section titled “Choose a plan and configure the rest”Pick an instance type and plan the same way you would for a CPU node; see Node families if you are unsure which one fits. Backup, VPC, security group, and SSH keys all work the same as for any other node, with one difference: set the security group to allow the ports the product’s documentation calls for, beyond the default rule. Common ones are TCP 22 for SSH, 80 for HTTP, and 443 for HTTPS, but check the documentation for what your specific product actually needs.
Launch and connect
Section titled “Launch and connect”Review the Summary panel, then click Launch. Once the node reaches Running, connect to it the same way you would any node of that OS: see Connect to a Linux node or Connect to a Windows node. The product’s own documentation may give a specific login username instead of the usual default, and may show a welcome message or first-run setup the first time you connect.
For help with the launch or the app itself, see Troubleshooting marketplace deployments.
