A schedule takes snapshots for you on a repeating basis. Set one for the node itself, to keep its root disk backed up on a repeat. Set a separate one for its attached volumes if you keep data there you also want backed up the same way. Set either one on its own, or both.
Set the schedule
Section titled “Set the schedule”- Open the node’s Snapshots tab and choose to schedule snapshots.
- Pick how often it runs, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly, and the time it runs at.
- Set how long to keep each snapshot before the schedule deletes older ones. You pay for snapshots per GB per hour, so a shorter retention costs less. Keep them longer if you want older recovery points to stay available.
- Save. Saving replaces any schedule already set for that node or volume; each one keeps only one active schedule at a time.
When a run is skipped
Section titled “When a run is skipped”A scheduled snapshot is skipped if the node is locked, stopped, or otherwise not ready for one. You are notified when that happens, and the schedule stays in place for the next run.
After the first run, the new snapshot shows on the Snapshots tab like one you took by hand. To build a new node from one, see Create an image from a snapshot.
