Schedule a node action

View as Markdown

A node’s Scheduled Actions tab lists the actions set to run on the node automatically, instead of by your hand each time. This is separate from scheduling snapshots, which back up the node’s disk on a repeating schedule; see Schedule snapshots for a node for that.

  1. Open the node and select its Scheduled Actions tab. Click Add Scheduled Action.
  2. In Action Name, give it a name you will recognize in the list, up to 30 characters.
  3. In Action Type, choose what it does: Reboot, Start, or Power off, plus Stop on E1-series nodes.
  4. In Action Timing Type, choose One Time for a single planned moment, such as a reboot right after a maintenance window, and pick the date and time. Choose Periodic Time to repeat it, and pick the date and time of the first run.
  5. For Periodic Time, choose how often in Select Period:
    • Hourly, every 1 to 167 hours
    • Daily
    • Weekly, on the days of the week you check
    • Monthly, on the days of the month you list, for example 1,12,23
  6. For Periodic Time, choose how it ends in Select End Option. Never keeps it running until you remove it. A number of runs, up to 10,000, or an end date stops it on its own.
  7. Click Submit.

The action now shows on the Scheduled Actions tab with its name, type, start and end, how it repeats, and its status. The end time shown is approximate.

If a run fails, later runs of that action wait until the failed one succeeds or you delete it. Look at the Status column after the first run. If a run failed, correct the action with Edit action so it can succeed, or delete it, so the rest of the schedule carries on.

To change or remove an action, open its menu on the tab and choose Edit action or Delete action.
