Your account’s defaults decide how every node you create from now on starts: which SSH keys it has, whether a password can sign in to it, and whether BitNinja, CDP Backup, and disk encryption are on. Set them once, and each new node picks them up. The nodes you already have keep their own settings. The same page holds an account-wide switch for WhatsApp notifications.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”Add the SSH keys you want on new nodes to your account first; see Manage SSH keys.
Open General Settings
Section titled “Open General Settings”In MyAccount, open Settings, then General Settings. It holds your defaults for SSH Keys, password authentication, BitNinja, CDP Backup, and Encryption, and the WhatsApp Notification settings. Each part has its own Save, which becomes available once you change something in that part.
Choose default SSH keys and password sign-in
Section titled “Choose default SSH keys and password sign-in”Under SSH Keys, tick the keys to add to every new node by default. With no keys saved yet, this part links to SSH Keys so that you can add one.
Tick Disabled password authentication to secure your node against brute-force attacks to turn off signing in to a new node with a password; only an attached SSH key works. Click Save to apply both the SSH key and password choices together.
Turn on BitNinja
Section titled “Turn on BitNinja”BitNinja protects a server against attacks. Tick BitNinja to turn it on for every node you create afterward. MyAccount shows the monthly charge before you click Save; see the E2E pricing page for the rate.
Turn on CDP Backup
Section titled “Turn on CDP Backup”Tick CDP Backup to turn on backups for every node you create afterward. A backup is taken every six hours, and you can restore from one at any time. Each backed-up node is charged a monthly licence, plus storage for its backups; see the E2E pricing page for the rates.
Turn on disk encryption
Section titled “Turn on disk encryption”Tick Encryption to turn on disk encryption for every node you create afterward, keeping its data confidential at rest.
Choose WhatsApp notifications
Section titled “Choose WhatsApp notifications”Under WhatsApp Notification, tick Enable WhatsApp Notifications. Two switches then appear:
- Billing & Account Notifications: payment reminders, suspension notices, and billing alerts.
- Monitoring Alerts: trigger-based alerts.
Turn on either or both, then click Save.
Confirm the defaults are saved
Section titled “Confirm the defaults are saved”The first time you save a part, MyAccount shows Settings have been saved successfully. A later save of the same part shows Settings have been updated successfully.
Your defaults now apply to any node you create from here. To create one, see Create a node.
